NEW ALEXA CHUNG for EYEKO - "ME AND MY SHADOW" Waterproof Shadow Liner REVIEW

Yep, it's friday and according to my blogging timetable I should be posting my Fitness Friday post..I know, I know. You've got to forgive me guys but I couldn't wait any longer to talk to you about this product. It's probably one of the makeup releases for this spring and summer that I was most excited about.

I am indeed a huge Alexa Chung fan. I mean come on, look at her. Beautiful eyes, messy hair that somehow look perfect anyway, great yet simple makeup and amazing style. (fangirl levels are sky high, I bet you can sense it by now)
As you can imagine I was thrilled when she announced a collaboration with Eyeko back last year and not unlike this time around, I was on my laptop prepared to buy whatever came out. I was so pleased with all the products from the previous line that last week, when I got an email from my subscription saying that the new shadow stick was out, I jumped on my laptop and went straight to purchase it.

I got an extra present which I'm really pleased with! Eee!

I was faced with the ever so difficult moment of choosing a shade (dramatic, I know). They have three: Charcoal, Chocolate and Taupe. I decided to go with Taupe because it's super easy to wear at any time of the year and is not too dramatic for the day-time. I must admit bloggers such as Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup do make my obsession over taupe-y colours even worse.

Now onto the important bit...

This is a double ended product. On one side you have a twist-up pen with a nice bullet that you use to glide on your eye. It's so creamy. I tried a few shadow sticks before and they never did the trick for me. I always feel like they drag my eye and they're sticky or impossible to blend. This one is magic. It's so easy and fuss-free.

On the other side you have what looks like a paint brush with synthetic fine bristles but there's very few of them and it doesn't feel soft. I would rather use my blending brush or a finger if I'm on the go and have nothing on me. Don't get me wrong, it's not awful, but I'm pretty sure if you're reading my blog that means you're into makeup - and probably have something way better to use that doesn't feel scratchy. Makes sense?

Applied directly - one stroke and this is how creamy and opaque it looks!
Blended quickly with my finger

 Left - applied; Right - Blended with a brush {excuse my veiny hand}

The packaging feels sleek and expensive and it is on the pricy side (I always say something is expensive if over £10). It retails for £15 and you can find it on the Eyeko site HERE

I do think this is a great product though and not as expensive as some other high end brands out there. If you're like me and love your makeup to be applied fast and look great because you're either running late or lazy then this is definitely for you!

To sum it all up...

Price : £15
Shades Available : 3
Formula : Waterproof

Pros
Creamy
Easy to blend
Great for on-the-go and travel
Does not crease on my oily eyelids

Cons
The little brush ain't that awesome, you're better off blending with your fingers!

WORTH IT?
YES!

Final Score:
9/10

I want to read what YOU think of this product! Have you tried any eyeshadow sticks before? Will you purchase this one?

  1. This is a lovely shade, it's a little more than I'd like to spend on one eyeshadow though!

  4. I need to try this. I'm not a fan of shadow sticks but if it's creamy it's worth a shot.

ps- please do a review of the eye patches!

  10. jesus christ i think i'm in love. that's not an over-reaction right ? i love brown eyeliners (like anna) and always have a mare finding a colour and good applicator. My current one is good but smudgy and awkward to sharpen (boo you boots) this.looks.like.my.dream, fitness friday definitely needed a backseat for this !

  11. great review! I'm the same and jumped to purchase the Alexa Chung eyeliner and mascara set.. loved the eyeliner at first but found it's dried up quickly, but can't say I was overly impressed by the mascara.. the brush is an odd shape I think!
