Shade : Meteoric Matte
Autumn is basically here and with that the return of the beloved berry lip! Who's excited? *raises hand*
Honestly, I am a little shy when it comes to rocking bold lip colours but this winter I promised myself I was going to make that big step and finally show off some plum colours on my face. Well, hopefully not my face as such, just my lips. Ain't nobody got time for clown makeup around here.
With that said, I had to go out on a little research to find some new bits and bobs on the market because by now we all know the most used and loved lip products *cough* Rimmel 107 *cough*. I needed something new and exciting. I was just thinking that when I ran into a bunch of new releases from Rimmel itself and couldn't help but pick them up. I did a review of their matte nail polish but now it's finally time to review their matte APOCALIPS.
When the first Apocalips collection came out the buzz was incredible. Every single blogger on the planet was talking about how fabulous and pigmented these lipstick/gloss hybrids were and they quickly sold out many times. I admit I don't own any of those because back then I was definitely more into only matte but now that I'm expanding views and my tastes are changing I will probably give those a little go as well.
Anyway, onto the all important infos you want to know!
Price : £6.49
Finish : Matte (duh)
The product : It comes in a tube like a lipgloss type packaging but it's as pigmented as a lipstick and interestingly enough easy to apply. I use a lip brush to blend in the product at the edges once I apply it on my lips. I was expecting this to be drying but it's not. You can also intensify the colour as much as you like. I went in with one coat but if you really wanna get a deeper effect you can layer more on top once the base is dry. It's wise to moisturise your lips beforehand (obviously) because once this baby is on it ain't going anywhere!
Final thoughts : I am more than happy with this new launch! I think it's a bargain and that the colour range is awesome considering we're getting into cooler months. I think they did a great job with the way this product feels on the lips because it's almost undetectable and I forget I have it on until someone points out the gorgeous colour and asks me what I have on my lips. The lasting power is awesome even though you might have to re-apply it if you eat something like a soup or an uber greasy burger.
- Feels good on the lips
- Good lasting power
