Happy weekend everyone!
It's sunday and my day will be spent in bed watching some Death Note and drinking tea. University is tough during the week and I just need to rest whenever I get the chance. It feels weird how it's been only a month since I started my second year yet I am already quite tired and counting down the days till the Christmas holidays kick in.
Speaking of Christmas, red is a big thing during this time of the year. I don't own many red lipsticks, in fact I believe this is my second one in my collection, therefore you can understand why I'm so excited about it. Some people think that red lipstick belongs to the gorgeous blondes with porcelain skin and whilst I agree that they look gorgeous, I also think that every woman - no matter their skin or hair colour - WILL look good in a red lipstick given all the different shades that exist!
The L'oreal Colour Riche Collection Exclusive brought us a small variety ( 4 ) of reds to choose from and I had to go for "Eva", mainly because I am indeed a big fan of her as an actress plus I have a similar dark complexion. (Any desperate housewives addicts by the way?) I admit I wish they came out with more shades here in UK since I did spot a few french bloggers with way more colours ( 9!! ) but for now we'll just have to go with the ones available here : Blake, Eva, Julianne and Liya.
The Shade : Eva - a strawberry red.
The Price : £6.99
The Product : Great leather-feel packaging, it does look really expensive. This matte lipstick is indeed quite drying so you need to have really moisturised lips otherwise it may highlight lines and various imperfections. It's best applied with a lip brush for precision and good distribution of product. It would be easy to spot inequality of colour and intensity given the finish of the lipstick and the way it sits once you're done applying it.
The Longevity : I can say it lasts about 3 hours but it definitely needs to be re-applied after meals. It does stain the lip, especially on the edges and to remove it quickly it would be good to use an oil-based makeup remover.
My Final Thoughts : I think this is a nice addition to a collection of reds and perfect for any time of the year. I like the expensive feel to it, almost as if it's Nars or Chanel. I find the tube to be quite big so it can be a little tricky to use the lipstick directly on your lips - especially the upper part when you need to define your cupid's bow - however there are ways of working around it. I would say this is more of a neutral to warm tone type shade. Definitely check out this new release from L'Oreal because you won't be disappointed.
