10 WAYS TO GET YOUR MOTIVATION BACK // Fitness Talk

Tshirt - Puma
Workout Leggings* - American Apparel through BuyTshirtsOnline

In my 2015 Goals post one of the most important things was to get back in the gym and kick some butt! Well, this week it happened! Obviously I'm aware that when you start a new journey we're all motivated and excited but the bubble doesn't last long.

I go through insane phases when it comes to my fitness routine - there are periods when I work out every day and times where you won't see me lift a finger for weeks. Now that it's been quite a while ( months!) since I've done a proper hardcore workout session, I decided to give some tips I found useful when trying to get back to a decent routine and finding that motivation that seems to fade away with time and get harder and harder to re-gain.

1 - ASK YOURSELF: WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?
Before even embarking in this adventure you have to ask yourself what you're trying to achieve. Is it being more happy with yourself? Being healthier? Having an idea of all that you want to do and why will help you stay motivated for longer.

2 - SET YOURSELF SOME GOALS
Big and small goals will always keep you focused. Be realistic though - not everyone can look like a VS model HOWEVER you can be the best version of yourself.

3 - TAKE PHOTOS EVERY WEEK TO CHECK YOUR PROGRESS
Sometimes bathroom scales lie and the best way to track progress is to SEE it, so taking photos week by week helps see how you're doing. I like to take my pictures on the same day and time each week.

4 - USE SOCIAL MEDIA TO GET INSPIRATION
I strongly suggest using Pinterest and Instagram as a tool to your success. There are endless amounts of people posting photos of their progress or inspirational quotes or even recipes for quick and healthy meals. You can learn a lot!

5 - SET YOURSELF A SCHEDULE
I go to the gym every tuesday, thursday and saturday. Depending on your work/university schedule try and find a regular time where you know it's "gym/fitness time"so you'll feel more organised and therefore more in charge.

6 - TREAT YOURSELF WITH SOME NEW WORKOUT GEAR/GADGETS
This is my favourite one obviously. There's nothing better than sporting some new gear at the gym/ whilst running in the park and looking good whilst working out. A website I would highly recommend is BuyTshirtsOnline which has an amazing selection of gym-wear and more from many great brands at incredible prices. My American Apparel fitness leggings were less than £5 so you should all check it out! Sometimes people get put off because owning Nike's stuff is expensive but trust me when I say that you can look fabulous spending very little!

7 - GET A GYM BUDDY
I'm a lone wolf but whenever I manage to workout with friends it feels awesome because you can   have fun or have a competition or motivate each other. It's great because you see someone else dying and sweating, not just you.

8 - BE POSITIVE
None of these tips are gonna work if you are not starting with the right mindset so stay positive, be positive and good things will come your way. Don't let little insignificant factors like the rain or a bad mood stop you. Working out will release stress and the feeling you get after a nice session at the gym is definitely going to pay off!

9 - MAKE IT FUN
It doesn't have to be all boring and repetitive. Every gym has extra classes that can be either free or quite cheap - join them! Get to meet new people and also try something new. This could be Zumba, Pilates, Pole dancing (yep..it's actually quite good according to a few of my friends).

10 - A LITTLE IS BETTER THAN NOTHING
Sheesh, if you're REALLY not up for much I always found good to do a small 10 minute workout that you can find on youtube. This won't just not make you feel horrible about being a little lazy but will also give you a little break for the day whilst at least you burnt some calories!

How do you motivate yourself to work out (if you do)?

  24. I definitely needed this. While I consider myself a very disciplined person, working out is an exception (as I find it really tedious.) Will definitely have to apply a bunch of these! Thanks a lot for sharing.
