Going to university full time, working, interning, running a blog and having a life all at the same time does require lots of effort so it comes with no surprise the fact that I love having my days off when I disconnect from the world, lay down and watch tv. Everyone needs at least one day a week where you can just have "Me-Time" and pamper yourself, wear the comfiest clothes and chillax.
I'm actually a very laid-back kinda gal and I love to have my cuppa after a long day, put my hair in a messy bun and be a sloth. I'm aware this blog is very much materialistic since it's on beauty and fashion but what I appreciate most is the little things in life. I can't tell you how much I get excited when my boyfriend brings doughnuts and some DVDs. It's like Christmas for me.
I thought it would be nice to do a post letting you in a little on my 'girl offline' (kinda..) lifestyle and of course telling you about some of my favourite essentials.
Checking Emails? Forget about it!
Depending on what you do, if you're a blogger then you know what it's like getting a lot of emails every day about all sorts of things. I take sundays off completely and don't even bother checking mine, main reason being the fact that nobody really works on sundays anyway so you don't get anxious thinking you're missing something important.
I definitely find crucial to also limit social media and have a one day- detox from it all to spend time with loved ones and just detox.
Heal that dry Winter Skin, seriously.
Well, you are on a beauty blog so of course I was going to add a little something beauty-related on here. Spots, dry patches, messy brows etc can all (and should be) fixed during the weekend. As much as I want to try and get everything done during the week it is simply impossible. The Sunday pamper is what I look forward to the most. Some of my favourite products I have been using recently are:
- Dr. Lipp Nipple Balm: I've been pretty much obsessed. This little guy is the ultimate saviour for those dry lip-days where you suddenly crave a matte lipstick but know deep down in your heart you can't pull it off. It's a good fix and acts fast so that any cracks or weird textures can disappear. I also use this as a highlighter sometimes believe it or not. It looks super natural.
- Lanolips Rose Balm for Dry Hands: My newest discovery. This gem is magic. It penetrates in your skin really quickly, it smells nice and you can use it even on more sensitive spots. My boyfriend used it on his fresh tattoo to proper moisturise it and he got obsessed a little and started using it many times a day. Not gonna lie, I started panicking a little because I love the cream myself and didn't want him to use it up. Lanolips products are actually really good quality. Last summer I reviewed their lip ointment and looking back at the old photo of me all tanned and with no sleeves makes me excited for summer.
I also take the chance to do some face masks.
Netflix time. Good bye world. TTYL.
I made a Netflix account a couple of months ago to see what was so special about it and wow, I totally get it. I finished watching Dexter, Breaking Bad, Orange is The New Black and I'm currently enjoying Gossip Girl, Better Call Saul and Prison Break. I'm totally addicted and have a hard time getting work done during the week sometimes because I can get sucked in and before I know it it's 3am and I should really be sleeping.
Plan the week ahead. Be the boss, yo!
I realised I needed a good notebook. Anything to get more organised and ready for whatever it's coming. I got mine from Chroma Stationery and I couldn't be more pleased with the quality. I even suggested it on my recent Gift-Guide. Taking the weekend to just plan ahead and know exactly who you're meeting, what you're meant to be doing and why. It's also good for brainstorming when it comes to posts. This semester I only have to be in uni twice a week and even though I thought that was going to make it easier on me, it turns out we get even more work and it's hard to balance it all out without getting a little lost on the way. Anyway, I'm thinking of doing a post soon on how to be more organised and getting your
And finally...rest and get ready to impress.
I can't tell you how many clothes go in my basket during the weekend. I get especially lost on ASOS these days but on twitter you always find new brands you end up falling in love with. One of my latest discoveries was Mahabis*. Now, I know a pair of slippers isn't usually everyone's cup of tea but this particular company makes special ones that look damn stylish and can be worn outside thanks to the detachable soles. I wear them indoor mainly because of the awful winter weather at the moment but do expect some OOTDs coming soon during spring time featuring them in the outside world. Plus, grey is my favourite colour of the moment. My wardrobe is becoming 50 shades of grey, not even joking.
When the weather is nice I like to take my iPhone, blast some music and have a lovely walk by the beach. That hasn't happened in a while though since walking by the coastline this time of the year guarantees eyes full of sand and a possibility of getting beheaded due to strong winds..
So what do you do on your days off? What are your favourite pamper beauty products?
