Palettes are probably my biggest obsession so there shouldn't be any shock here when I decided to include them in my summer to autumn series of posts.
I'm not going to lie, my collection is huge and overflowing, but when I thought of fall these five palettes in specific stood out to me immediately for one reason or another. I also wanted to make sure that I reviewed at least some of them on here already, so that you could easily check a more in-depth post with swatches if you needed to.
I love matte eyeshadows, just like matte lipsticks. I think there's a lack of good quality non-shimmery shades out there and my go-to always end up being higher end. The NAKED BASICS 2 from Urban Decay has been a must-have in my collection ever since it was announced. The cool purple undertones compliment my brown eyes and olive complexion a lot not to mention they can create a pretty stunning but soft smokey eye. On the other hand, one palette that features some warm autumnal hues is the IT COSMETICS NATURALLY PRETTY palette (review here) which I bought in the States when I visited last summer. It's stunning, pigmented and actually perfect for any age. The colour range is amazing and the shadows are so easily blendable. The shade "Sunset" is my current go-to which I also rocked on my 22nd birthday the other day. (I'm old)
The best autumnal shades
Speaking of autumnal shades, if you're into a pop of colour, then these two gems are definitely for you. My first ever palette from Kat Von D features one of the old school designs (which I actually prefer) and is called Poetica. It's split in two gorgeous colour schemes - one going on a purple smokey mysterious look and the other side on a buzzing burnt orange and highlighting vibe which brings life and light to the party. The pigmentation is great and there's just some kind of one-off feeling when you hold this number - it's like it's precious. The other little guy is by Motives Cosmetics which I discovered last year (review here) and fell in love with for various reasons. The number of looks you can create with it is countless and the payoff is always of the highest quality.
The Drugstore top pick
Now I couldn't let you all down and just talk about higher end palettes so here's one for £4 which left me speechless. I discovered Makeup Revolution and my life changed, it has been an eye-opening experience (dramatic, I know). This palette (Iconic 2) is pretty much a twin sister to the Naked 2 by Urban Decay but at a fraction of the price it's KILLING the highstreet. The pigmentation, the quality, the longevity - everything and more is just as good as the high end sibling we all know of. If you're a student and you're broke but you want to still play with makeup while not breaking the bank, check out this brand. For real.
Those are my top 5 choices, let me know what you think in the comments and which ones you would have picked.
