REAL TECHNIQUES DEEP CLEANSING GEL FOR BRUSHES - A Review

I am fairly certain that any beauty lover owns at least one Real Techniques brush in their collection, in fact, I'm sure of it. If not, have you been living under a rock?

Available in Superdrug, Boots and pretty much everywhere, the RT brushes are affordable and the quality is amazing. I have had my collection for a couple of years now and they're still going strong so I was more than excited to try another product from the Champan sisters. Let's just say I was ready for them to blow me away again.

I was carelessly walking around Asda the other week and I spotted this little stand with the sticker "New" on it. I will admit, I had no idea this gel was released everywhere just yet so like the beauty blogger that I am, I had to literally run to the stand to grab a bottle. Boots has been out of stock since the release so if you're desperate to get your hands on one check your local Asda!

For £7.99 I thought it wasn't too expensive considering it's a product targeted to clean makeup brushes that I use and love, plus the quantity you need per "session" is very little.

The gel has a light scent which isn't overpowering and doesn't last on the bristles. You only need a tiny amount to mix with water and swirl around on the palm of your hand - or a cleansing glove if you have it ( I use one from Soap and Glory and it's amazing). Depending on the type of foundation you use, you may have to go for two rounds when it comes to face brushes but overall I thought the gel did a fabulous job at removing dirt, makeup and bacteria.

I would definitely recommend this cleansing gel for every girl that uses brushes, especially for foundations that are heavy or waterproof. I hope the next product they release is something like a spot-cleaning spray since we really need an affordable option in the drugstores. (If you know of one let me know, I'd love to test it)

Have you tried this little gem yet? Also, I'd love to know what you use to deep cleanse your makeup tools. I will admit, I'm a little lazy and my brush collection is pretty big so I do go well over a week before I decide reluctantly to wash all my tools. It's probably the most tedious and boring part of loving makeup - I think we can all agree on that.

  4. I don't actually own any real techniques brushes, I own a whole host of others though and do find cleaning them a chore. I definitely don't do it as often as I should. Definitely going to be keeping my eye open for this! x

  5. This sounds like it's worth getting! I normally just use shampoo on mine, but I feel like a dedicated product would be better. I pretty much trust RT to only make good things too at this point, SUCH a fan of their brushes!

  12. Oooh I've been waiting for someone to review this for ages :) Sounds like it gets through all types of makeup! I've been using the Primark Makeup Brush Cleansing Spray for an inbetween wash, just spray it on the brush then brush onto kitchen paper and volia! x

  13. Ooh I'm glad you did a review on this! I use baby shampoo and sometimes a cheap exfoliator to deep clean my brushes, but like you I leave it over a week before cleaning them as I have quite a few. I also use a silicone oven glove to clean them as I find it works better.

As for a spot cleaner, I recently picked one up from Primark which I'm testing out too!

  19. I don't have any real techniques brushes haha but I tend to spend so much on make p that brushes are an afterthought! However I have been looking for good brush cleaners so I may have to pick this up as it sounds easy to use and the brand is pretty popular so I imagine it will live up to the hype :)
