It's the end of the year and we're all about that glitter, highlighter, red lip and curls. As someone who just started dipping her toes into the scary world of strobing, I thought I would share a little gem I've been using recently to try this trend.
As you may know, I have combination skin (more on the oily side) so let's face it - I don't need to look for a highlighter, my natural oils transform me into a grease ball by midday without any help. The main thing that stopped the usual mess from happening is my current AMAZING base that I've talked about recently. Thanks to that I can now try highlighting without being paranoid of resembling a disco ball.
My first addition to my possible collection had to be something natural, affordable and most importantly subtle. I'm not into glitter or anything looking too fake and over the top when it comes to day to day makeup.
You may be surprised I'm featuring a cream product but I tested a few powder highlighters that came in palettes, from Sleek and other well known brands, but they all looked so cakey and just didn't sit well on my skin, at all. Lavera is a brand I featured on the blog before so I wasn't hesitant to try it again and I decided to go for a cream product this time around that turned out to be surprisingly great because it blended well with my overall look!
The product comes in two shades, Shining Pearl which has more of a pinky tone and Golden Shine (£9.50) which is the one I have here. With an olive warm complexion I thought this option was more suited to me. The cream itself is easy to apply and it doesn't feel waxy or too greasy. I dab it lightly on the top of my cheeks and on a night out I even go "crazy" and layer it up twice to make sure it shows more. This is a really subtle highlighter so don't expect a full on shiny look.
I've used it the past few nights since I've been on a crazy marathon made of Christmas parties, dinners and meet ups with friends and co-workers. It lasted nicely even after hours of dancing and sweating so I'm pleased with it. For the price and the quality I do think this product is worth trying out, especially if you're looking for a natural glow that you can also wear to work or in general during the day.
I'd love to know what's your favourite highlighter in the comments and if you've tried anything from Lavera yet.
