Oh look, another post featuring five red lipsticks for the season. Ground breaking.
Jokes aside, I know there's many popping out in your feed so if you're fed up with them, sorry! I just wanted to share my personal picks since they're affordable and I've been using them all (switching them up every day) between work, christmas parties and get togethers with friends and family. I love my reds and I'll carry on wearing them in January as well.
I'm going to be honest on here though and just admit that on Christmas day I will be probably makeup-less and rocking my pjs all day. The rest of the month however I did try my best at being bold and a little more confident wearing a bright lipstick throughout the day.
When busy, I wanted something long lasting, light and easy to wear so my two picks were the Bagsy Lip velvet liquid lipstick in Rush Hour and the L'Oreal Color Riche Pure Reds Collection in Eva's red (she's my favourite). Between the two I found Bagsy to last a little better whilst also being so light and non-drying that I would literally forget I'm wearing anything. I usually rocked this to work when I didn't have time to check myself in the mirror and make sure no bleeding happened. I feel like in terms of shades, L'oreal's is more of a classic red whilst Bagsy has a slight raspberry undertone and would look better with a lip liner underneath if you wanted a more classic cool. Personally I wore mine with no help and even after 4 hours, it looked fresh and nicely applied.
Of course I ended up in Superdrug last month and Sleek have surprised me once again with their lipstick quality after my most recent purchase. The shade I have been using is Vixen which is a fire red. I featured a few of Sleek's lip products a while back (here) and many of you admitted that like me, you happen to ignore most of their other products except for their contour palettes (which are indeed AWESOME). Well, this shade is gorgeous and makes your complexion pop, especially if you have olive skin or a slight tan. Paired up with a nice highlighter you would be the bomb!
For a slightly less conventional red, that goes more on the brick-colour, Lavera have the shade Red Berry Charm which is quite moisturising. This is a very wintery shade in my opinion and can be worn way past the holiday season as well. It's also perfect for people that are tired of having a classic red lip all the time and want to change things up a little bit. As always, their products are completely natural and cruelty free so they're perfect for all you vegans and vegetarians out there!
Last but not least, my all time favourite drugstore brand, Rimmel, have my go-to red. It's from the Kate Moss line and it's number 01. I've been using it for literally years and every time there's a special event or a dinner, this little bad boy comes out with me. I do have to re-apply it after a meal but with a good liner it lasts nicely all night!
So that's that! I'd love to know what your go-to red lipstick is and since this is my last post before Christmas... MERRY CHRISTMAS! Thanks for following my blog and I hope you all have a wonderful time with family and friends. If you ever feel like having a little chat, tweet me (twitter.com/krisevilcupcake).
