So I've never done this kind of post before but I love reading them and watching them on youtube. I know it's a silly disclaimer but I'm the first person that appreciates spending time with loved ones, with or without presents! I think this time of the year can make some people sad if they can't afford to shower their family in gifts or receive any presents but remember that it's really not about the materialistic side at all.
I would have been happy all the same even without all these things. As much as I loved opening them, I spent the rest of the day drinking wine with my nan and watching Christmas movies with my boyfriend, completely forgetting about having or not having a pile of presents. Don't get me wrong though, I'm still very grateful for everything I received and the people in my life.
If you're nosey to find out what Santa left under tree - and what's YET TO ARRIVE (thanks Amazon for effing-up and losing my presents) then you're in the right post!
People HATE buying me makeup because my collection is quite big already and I know it can be quite scary to try and guess what I have or don't have. I have made it pretty clear though that there were two items I really wanted in my stash - the Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette - The Edit that looks so dreamy and Becca's Champagne Pop that has become almost legendary this year. My boyfriend kindly got me both which is awesome. I also bagged a MAC lipstick in the shade Whirl which I had my eye on for a few months now. It's not in the photo as it has been permanently in my handbag since Christmas and I've already worn it to work twice. It's so gorgeous! Review will be up soon.
From a secret santa at work I received a lovely pamper bag by Botanica with a shower gel and a body cream which smell divine! The bag is very useful as well since I always use them when traveling around the country or to visit family.
From my boyfriend's family I received a gift voucher that I spent on a new perfume from Versace, the Crystal Noir. The bottle is classy and chic but the scent is literally the most feminine, oriental and minimalist number in my collection.
Mum has been kind enough to get a new lens for my Olympus, the 45mm one that gives that fabulous blur to images. Since my goal is to take more outfit shots and travel around Europe in 2016, this little camera is what I'll be carrying with me all the time.
My boyfriend bought me a FujiFilm instax mini camera (that Amazon failed to deliver on time after effing up the order). I should be getting it tomorrow though, which is really exciting! I always wanted a polaroid camera after losing the one we used to have back home in Italy for special events.
FASHION & JEWELLERY
The biggest purchase of the year for me has been the gift I have given myself. About a month ago I bought an Alexander Wang Rockie with Rose Gold studs. After wanting it for YEARS I saved up my pennies during summer and as a Christmas present I gave myself a little something extravagant for my standards.
And if you're a Topshop employee then you probably know the feeling of having that staff discount. I bought myself a cheeky little pair of boots that are SO COMFORTABLE! On Boxing Day I sold 4 pairs after customers saw me wearing them.
My best mate Laura gave me a very generous amount to spend in Zara with a sweet little e-gift card that I'm saving to use on something expensive like a coat or a few new jumpers. Same thing goes for Whistles, thanks to my mate Jessica, who also sent me an e-gift card. I don't tend to shop in the sales unless I find items I truly love so I'll be waiting 2016 to get some really nice pieces for spring. My other friend Lena got me an Etsy gift card that I really want to use on a knot bracelet I spotted a while back! (as you can tell I love my gift cards, always have!)
As for jewellery, I know people usually love Pandora but a brand I discovered recently is Essential and their sterling silver rings are STUNNING. My nan bought me a multi-textured spinner number that has been great so far to wear and use when I'm nervous. I tend to fiddle a lot with my hands when I'm anxious so spinning my ring instead has actually helped during my Boxing Day shift at work. (weird huh)
My mum instead got me a knot ring. I love the simple yet statement design of it and I will definitely be wearing both loads next year.
BOOKS & RANDOM
My best friend Zoe gave me two items I literally LOVED so much that they made me feel like a little kid again. First of all, if you know anything about me then you're probably aware of my slightly over the top, crazy, next-level obsession with Harry Potter. As you can imagine I have loads of the merchandise and the different editions of the books but something I was missing was the ILLUSTRATED EDITIONS! I literally screamed when I opened this up and I look forward to collecting the rest of them (obviously she gave me the Philosopher's stone first).
She also got me a really fun set of two pup cake cases that I look forward to using for my future baking experiments!
My lovely mate Milly gave me a Waterstones gift card since she knows I love reading fantasy books. I am so excited to spend a whole day in the store and pick something new and refreshing. I was thinking something by Trudi Canavan but any suggestions are welcome.
I'm yet to meet up with a couple of my other best friends that are coming back from the holidays in January so we'll do a gift exchange then. If you're curious to find out what I receive, follow me on Snapchat - whatkrisdid and I'll make sure to update you all.
Anyway, I hope you all had an amazing time off (or if like me you worked on Boxing day then pat yourself on the shoulder because you're a badass boss). If you have a similar post to this link it up in the comments and I'll come stalk what you got for Christmas!
