Morning Skincare Routine | Dehydrated Combo Skin
I often change up my skincare and I always try new products, so I never felt comfortable doing a proper routine post for you guys.
Lately I have stuck to the same four things in rotation, so we can count this as a proper regime. I have seen huge changes - less pimples, less redness, no dry patches. Since last year I have started investing more into my skin care and less into general makeup because having a good base makes it easier to apply anything on top of it.
Here's my current four fail-proof gems:
- BIODERMA Makeup Remover Wipes
"umm why do you use this in the morning?". Well, I like removing any residue from my skincare routine of the night before. As you'll see soon on another post, I use oils or heavy duty creams before bed time so sometimes I wake up a little greasy. I tend to use these wipes first thing in the morning and then have breakfast and chill before getting ready for university or work.
I also use them at the end of the day to remove makeup as an initial step, but I mainly pick them in the morning because they're really gentle and they don't irritate my eyes. They just manage to wake me up a little quicker which is especially helpful when you get out of bed and it's still pitch dark outside.
- ORIGINS CHECKS AND BALANCES FACE WASH
This is my first purchase from the brand that happened because of the constant rave I see around other blogs from any Origins product. My opinion? I love it. It's gentle on the skin but helps keep the oils in check whilst not drying out any areas. I use a very tiny amount since the mousse is quite thick and a little goes a long way.
- JURLIQUE CALENDULA REDNESS RESCUE
I featured this little gem in my recent post on skin saving serums. I apply it every morning because it helps calm any redness. My 'trouble zones' tend to be the cheeks and the nose, especially in winter. This season though I have been comfortable enough to not wear any makeup to university when I had early classes because my face wasn't as obviously red like in the past years.
Note - I probably just jinxed myself and I'll wake up to a red face and a pimple the size of my head tomorrow morning...
- FADE OUT Extra Care Day Cream
You may remember that I like my intense creams (this was my go-to moisturiser for winter last year), so of course 2016 wasn't going to change anything. I like to pack it on when I use an ultra mattifying foundation because it creates the perfect layer and cancels any dry patches that something like the Estee Lauder Double Wear may cling on to.
Fade Out is a new discovery for me but I found it to work well with my skin type and with my makeup routine overall.
It contains SPF 25 and it has skin-evening properties. There's a visible difference on my face because I don't tend to see darker areas as much as I did in the past. Overall I'm really pleased and if you're in the market for a new cream, give this budget option a try!
I'd love to know what you use in the morning and if you tried any of the products I mentioned.
