Clear skin, why are you so hard to get?
I eat quite well, aside from the weekly cheat-night when I have takeaway (blame my boyfriend), and I also follow all the rules to clear complexion - no smoking, always removing makeup before bed, washing my makeup brushes and so on. Despite that, I still get certain periods where my skin just decides to go a little crazy and I wake up with pimples on my cheeks or chin for no reason. After being dramatic and naming each zit, I try to figure out why on earth my face would rebel against me so often.
Long story short, I was suggested by numerous people to add a little something extra to help me remove any 'dirt' left and deep-cleanse. Clearly using heavy duty foundations with added powder and so on (as you may have seen in this post) makes them a little harder to completely remove, and I needed a weapon to properly achieve a squeaky-clean face. I wasn't particularly interested in products like the Clarisonic due to past experience of it being a little too harsh on my skin, but the Foreo LUNA mini was definitely on my wish-list.
These little funny looking things come in a variety of colours and they can be used in the shower or in the bath. You charge them like a phone, with a little USB cable, and you get up to 300 uses for a single charge. Impressive isn't it? I've been using mine for over a month and I still haven't had to charge it. Mind = blown. I wish our phones lasted this long.
One of the things I particularly enjoy is the fact that you don't have to change the Foreo brush, ever. It's made of non-abrasive silicon, which is easy to wash and it never accumulates dirt. The thinner touch-points that you can see in the photos below, are used to gently cleanse sensitive or dry skin, and the thicker touch-points grouped at the top are for precision cleansing. The broad touch-points on the reverse side instead, are for channeling pulsations more directly to cleanse and refresh oilier skin.
How can this little gadget deliver better and far more effective deep cleansing than just using my hands alone? Well, as you may know fingers, in addition to often having oil, dirt, bacteria and other contaminants on them, cannot cleanse the pores that much. The LUNA mini can remove dead skin cells, and it has the ideal texture required to get rid of impurities from the skin. I actually noticed that my nose pores have shrunk and they just seem normal and not clogged anymore.
I have noticed a huge improvement in my skin texture and overall complexion ever since I started using the Luna. If you have combination/oily skin and you're prone to acne or spots, this is definitely a gadget that is worth investing in and for what it does, it's certainly worth the money. I cleanse each zone of my face (chin, cheeks, forehead, nose) for 15 seconds using gentle upward and outward strokes and after each 15-second interval the pulsations will pause momentarily, indicating it is time to move to a different area of the face. I find this to be an easy and quick extra step to add to my routine that really changed my skin for the better.
I'd love to know what you think of the Luna and if you use anything to deep cleanse properly at the end of the day.
Despite this being a post mainly focused on the Foreo Luna mini, I still want to mention how much I adore the current cleanser I've been using by Mary Kay. It has effectively cleared my skin to reveal a matt smooth flawless complextion. It is gentle, it's oil and fragrance-free and it doesn't clog my pores. You'll find tiny beads that gently exfoliate the surface, but it doesn't leave the skin feeling dry and dehydrated. I love using this product in the evening because it provides a cooling sensation that feels so nice and fresh.
Basically both things I got are a bang for my buck and I couldn't recommend them enough.
