Last year I started shopping for more classic pieces and I really tried my best to stay away from current trends that will eventually fade *cough* Anyone remember dip dyed t-shirt from two years ago that look SO dated now? For the longest time I stopped myself from purchasing a bomber jacket but this year I caved in and bought this reversible number from Topshop that was sold out for ages after Olivia Palermo was spotted wearing it at London Fashion Week.
Aside from the fact that you get more for your money as you can wear it two-ways, it's also a statement piece that goes really well with simple clothes that I tend to wear in the spring and summer. The black side is my favourite because you probably all know I wear black 90% of the time. The reverse side is perfect to wear with blue jeans and a variety of coloured tops.
What caught my eye straight away was the embroided details inspired by Japanese/ Eastern culture that you all know I love, featuring a tiger and a bird. I was actually planning to visit Japan by the end of the summer but I lost my passport so my plans seem to be on hold at the moment. I'm sure one day I'll get to walk in the streets of Tokyo wearing this number.
The jacket is such a lovely statement and I get stopped on the street daily from strangers who keep complimenting me when I wear it. It's not a piece that everyone will love as it is a little out there but if you have a simple closet like me, a small pop of colour and a more elaborate and embellished design is a great addition.
I'd love to know if you're into bombers or what current trends you've been loving!
