Trend Talk - Statement Sleeves

If you thought that the statement sleeve was taking a back seat in 2017, you were wrong - and so was I to be honest. 2016 has brought many trends back to life, and one that isn't showing any sign of slowing down is the flute/puff/statement sleeve that you see everywhere from the high street to the high-end labels. You can't escape it and you can't ignore it so....embrace it?

I have had my doubts and for the longest time I tried, so hard, to keep it cool and not warm up to the idea that I could look like I stuffed my sleeves with a load of pads but eventually I gave in and embraced the madness. You only live once and all that. You may have noticed that in my Sassy Summer Top post I did hint that I had a weak spot for this trend and well, it's showing. My boyfriend calls this the "pillow case trend", as according to him, most of the time it seems that you're wearing pillow cases on your arms or some sort of bed sheets. Savage fashion critic, I know.

I have worn this top at a couple of lunch outings with friends in December and this month (already! I know) and let me tell you - for someone who wears the same sort of style and the same colours, whenever I wore this top it was noticed! I got compliments and a few shocked faces because it is a little out there for someone like me who sticks to the same thing - you know, plain oversized jumpers. I thought it would be fun to try something different and have fun with fashion sometimes - and I don't regret it. The top is very affordable and made of cotton so it's easy to wash and it makes your skin breathe which is great as with some companies the materials used are rubbish. Size wise it runs true to size but leans towards the smaller spectrum so if worried go a size bigger, depending on the kind of fit you'd like. I hope you find the info helpful and I'd love to know what you think of the top.

Other than that, I hope you're all having a great start to the new year. I have hit the gym today and I'm aching everywhere! Tomorrow I shall be shooting some makeup bits so expect beauty posts to be resumed next week! xoxo

  1. This top looks so lovely on you! I'm sure I've seen a photo of my mother from the 70's wearing a dress with these sleeves, although I highly doubt it was made from cotton ;)

  5. Really chic, I love how you have paired the shirt with simple black pants to keep them the main feature of the look.
