From the gold packaging (insert heart eyed emoji here) to the quality of the products, let's explore what Joan Collins' beauty line has to offer and why I'm so obsessed with it.
Oh yes; that packaging needed a separate mention because my oh my, isn't it just flawless? It's probably the best cure - well, maybe close to the best - for a dreadful cold. I'm on the road to recovery people, I'm doing okay and thank you so much for the kind messages/tweets and comments I've been getting this past week! Today is results day and I woke up at 6 in the morning to find out I passed my second year of university, it's a great feeling. To celebrate I'll probably have a drink and buy more makeup? We'll see!
I haven't actually added many makeup items to my stash so far this summer, but this new line has been a privileged guest of my beauty table every morning lately because it's so pretty to look at - hence it never gets forgotten in the draws. I definitely think that when it comes to beauty products, if the outside looks good - you're already halfway there to smashing it in the popularity chart.
I have been testing out these gems for the past few weeks so now I'm ready to give a good review not only based on the packaging but also to the quality since Joan Collins Beauty is definitely more on the higher end of the pyramid.
My favourite product that went into my holy grails is the Summer Kiss Compact Duo* (£34.00) which features a lipstick and a blusher/bronzer. The shade I have here is Marilyn because you know me, I like my wearable neutrals. On the more pigmented lips the colour is a gorgeous neutral pink which is extremely nourishing, creamy and easy to apply. It lasted fairly well considering the formula and complimented my skin nicely. The powder is a perfect terracotta that can be used as a gorgeous bronzer for summer. I didn't find it too orange so I even lightly dusted it as a blush and had compliments for it - though I'm olive skinned so this may be ideal for girls with my same undertones. This product kicks ass - sorry but it does - and I think that it's perfect for any age from 18 to 80, literally.
The second product I tried is a gorgeous flashy pink lip liner* ( called pink - £12.00 ). Fist of all, the actual pencil is bigger than my average ones I buy from other brands which pleased me a lot, but the formula is - dare I say it- better than my MAC lip liners! It's matte but not drying, making it flattering on the lips whilst also being long-lasting. Apparently it contains jojoba oil and vitamin E which is a plus. This is a not-so-me shade however I did go brave and I've worn it to work receiving so many compliments that I may start wearing this colour more often.
Now I have never said this before but I know some people may be skeptical that I love these products just because they were gifted to me but no review was requested and I really REALLY think you should check the brand out. The hype around it is underwhelming and I think it's because some may think it's for more mature and older women. Oh hell no girl, this stuff is amazing and I firmly believe it's worth the money. Next time, instead of going for the usual Space NK splurge, go to the Joan Collins Beauty site and send me an owl if by some odd reason you don't think this brand is awesome.
Wow, the lipstick packaging seems really similar to Charlotte Tilbury packaging! So pretty
